Enrollment opens for the 2014 Casino Road Futbol Academy

EVERETT:  The Everett Police Department announces enrollment opens for the sixth annual Casino Road Futbol Academy.

The Casino Road Futbol Academy runs June 23 to June 27 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. daily at Walter E. Hall Park (1126 W. Casino Rd) in south Everett and is limited to the first 500 applicants, ages 7-14. Enrollment is now open. Registration is $20.00 per participant which includes breakfast and lunch for the week, a jersey and a soccer ball.

In the past five years, over 3,000 area youth have learned soccer and life skills from talented coaches and volunteers at the Casino Road Futbol Academy. While soccer draws youth, the underlying focus is to educate participants on what it takes to be a good citizen in our community.

The Academy started as an ambitious concept by Everett Police Department Sergeant Manny Garcia who envisioned partnering local businesses, schools, churches and community agencies committed to creating positive change with youth through soccer. The underlying premise is that youth actively engaged in positive pursuits make better choices and have stronger community ties. With support from Mukilteo and Everett School Districts along with community businesses and groups, Manny believes, “The Casino Road Futbol Academy is successful because youth see City officials, police officers, and inspirational adults from within their community working to break down barriers and encouraging them in a positive direction.”
